About this event
Held in Tokorozawa City, Saitama Prefecture, "Tokorozawa Matsuri" is a major festival representing Tokorozawa's autumn. In 2026, it will be held normally on Sunday, October 11, featuring a variety of events along the streets of the central area of the city, including float pulling, ibayashi musical performances, mikoshi (portable shrines), minyo nagashi folk dancing, and food stall villages. A special highlight is the planned participation of a commemorative delegation from Tokorozawa's sister city, Decatur, USA, in the opening ceremony and minyo nagashi, allowing visitors to enjoy international exchange through the festival. During the float pulling, where each neighborhood's floats proceed through town, the sounds of festival music (ohayashi) echo throughout, enveloping the city of Tokorozawa in a festive mood. In addition, energetic mikoshi processions and an opening march by children will also take place. The venue is packed with bazaar corners and food stall villages to enjoy festival gourmet food, as well as tourism association specialty product booths showcasing Tokorozawa goods, allowing visitors to enjoy various attractions while strolling around. Large-scale traffic regulations will be in place mainly around the West Exit of Tokorozawa Station on the day, so please allow plenty of time for travel.
