About this event
The Shiki Citizens' Cultural Festival and the Shiki City Art Exhibition (Shiten) will be held in fiscal year 2026. This event aims to provide opportunities for creative activities for Shiki citizens and to enlighten, promote, and elevate arts and culture through citizen participation, fostering the improvement of creative citizen culture and cultural exchanges. The Citizens' Cultural Festival uses different venues for the performing arts division and the exhibition division. In the exhibition division, visitors can enjoy flower arrangement (ikebana), tea ceremony, cultural properties, hands-on shogi experiences, and handicrafts (chigiri-e paper collage). In the performing arts division, Japanese dance, Western dance, folk songs, popular songs, traditional Japanese music, stage combat (tate), brass band music, theater, tai chi, chamber music, dance fitness, street performance, and drum performances will be showcased. Furthermore, the 34th Shiki City Art Exhibition (Shiten) will display works of Japanese-style painting, Western-style painting, sculpture, crafts, calligraphy, and photography. Stamp rallies, picture-story shows (kamishibai), and other activities will also be held at the art exhibition venue. Admission is free, but the tea ceremony requires a fee of 500 yen.
