Washinomiya Saibara Kagura, handed down in Kuki City, Saitama Prefecture and designated as a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property, is a traditional performing art said to be the source of Kanto Kagura. Bearing the name 'Saibara', a popular form of vocal music during the Heian period, it features old songs incorporated into its repertory. The Autumn Festival, one of six kagura dedications held annually at Washinomiya Shrine, is a celebration expressing gratitude for a bountiful harvest and praying for the household safety and personal well-being of devotees. Held in a lively atmosphere with food stalls, the kagura performance can be viewed freely. It will be held at the Washinomiya Shrine Kaguraden starting around midday, though start times vary depending on the day. It is a precious opportunity to experience traditional Japanese culture through classical dance and music.
