Held in Kawajima Town, Saitama Prefecture, 'Akame Hiroba Mess Tin Rice Cooking' is a hands-on event for elementary school students and their guardians. At the former Demaru Elementary School (Akame Hiroba), participants can experience cooking rice using traditional mess tins (hango) and heating up curry to eat. Through the valuable opportunity of using fire and cooking outdoors in nature, the event aims to foster children's independence and cooperation. Participants are required to bring work gloves, a hat, a towel, a water bottle, as well as uncooked white rice and pre-packaged retort curry. Wearing athletic shoes is recommended, and the event will be managed with safety precautions in place. It will proceed in light rain but will be cancelled in case of stormy weather. This event is sure to become an unforgettable summer memory for children.
