Enjoy with the 5 Senses and Protect Forests: Tomisato Wood Education Event Vol. 2

About this event

Held as part of Tomisato City's "Wood Education (Mokuiku)" initiative, "Enjoy with the 5 Senses and Protect Forests: Tomisato Wood Education Event Vol. 2" allows children and adults to deepen their understanding of wood culture and learn the benefits and importance of using timber through hands-on interaction with wood and wooden products. The event features an open play area with wooden toys made from Chiba Prefecture timber, allowing everyone from toddlers to adults to enjoy the warmth of wood. There is also a wooden 3D puzzle assembly contest where participants race against time, split into an elementary school and younger division and a junior high school and older division, with prizes for top winners. Furthermore, a workshop will be held where participants can plane domestic Japanese cypress (hinoki) to craft their own personal chopsticks, experiencing the joy of woodworking. Through these activities, attendees can engage their five senses, interact with wood, and enjoyably learn about the importance of forests and wood utilization. Minors must be accompanied by a guardian to participate in the programs.
