As one of Bunkyo's Five Major Flower Festivals, the "Bunkyo Chrysanthemum Festival" features displays of chrysanthemums—popularly beloved as representative autumn flowers—held at Yushima Tenmangu Shrine. Visitors can admire a wide variety of meticulously cultivated chrysanthemums, ranging from "kiku ningyo" (chrysanthemum dolls), which are rare in Tokyo, to "kengai" (cliff-hanging styles cascading downward) and "senrinzaki" (thousand-bloom style, where many flowers bloom from a single plant to look like one massive bouquet). The covered passageway adorned with chrysanthemum blossoms is also a highlight offering picturesque, atmospheric scenery.
