Takashi Yanase Exhibition: Life is About Bringing Joy to Others

This is the first large-scale touring exhibition of Takashi Yanase, widely known as the creator of Anpanman, who was a multifaceted artist active as a manga artist, poet, picture book author, illustrator, designer, and editor. This exhibition is held to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Takashi Yanase Memorial Museum Anpanman Museum in 2026. Centering on approximately 200 original drawings, the exhibition deeply explores his creative world through themes such as 'Anatomy of Takashi Yanase,' 'Manga,' 'Poetry,' 'Picture Books / Yanase Marchen,' and 'Anpanman.' Having gone through harsh wartime experiences and diverse life events, Yanase came to see bringing joy to others as life's greatest pleasure, arriving at a hero figure who may not look stylish but brings hope to those in trouble. Through this exhibition, visitors can fully appreciate the charm of Yanase's works that continue to give us courage.
