About this event

The Hatomori Hachiman Shrine Annual Festival is the shrine's most important festival, customarily held over two days on the second Saturday and Sunday of September. In 2026, it will be held on Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13. This festival is the largest event of the year conducted in unity with the local community. Numerous stalls will line the shrine grounds, creating a lively atmosphere. At the Noh theater stage, torchlit Noh (Takigi Noh) performed by the "Sakuramaka" will be dedicated with free admission, offering a magical ambiance. Furthermore, portable shrines (mikoshi) will emerge from 8 neighboring parishioner neighborhood associations. Especially in 2026, the once-every-three-years "Combined Mikoshi Procession" will take place, presenting a magnificent sight as mikoshi from the 8 neighborhood associations parade across the entire parish area. The first day features official rituals (for head representatives and guests) and special main hall worship (for parishioners and worshippers), while the second day bustles with the combined mikoshi procession and street stalls. It is a two-day festival full of tradition and vibrancy created together with local residents.
