Rintaro Hara + Yu Hara Experiential Art: "Summer Children Like Bees, City Children Like Spheres!" SHIBUYA WANDERING CRAFT 2026

About this event

This is an experiential art event by the artist unit Rintaro Hara + Yu Hara, turning the 8th floor of Shibuya Hikarie into an artistic playground. Attractions include "Shibuya Figure-8 Sugoroku," which incorporates the history and culture of Shibuya; "Logos Garden," where visitors combine words written on building blocks to create surreal sentences; and artistic table tennis tables. In addition, visitors can enjoy a free self-guided workshop called "Hittukimushi Collection," sticking colored paper shaped like insects, animals, and plants onto white cardboard trees. Based on the idea that one of the reasons humans were born might be to play, the event takes the concept of "play" in art history as its theme. "Summer children like bees" refers to the bee's figure-8 waggle dance and Shibuya Hikarie 8/, symbolizing the transmission of information to peers. "City children like spheres" expresses the wish for children to move freely like balls. Both phrases are rooted in communication with others. Reflecting the recent decrease in opportunities for children to play freely in urban areas, the title embodies the desire for children to play to their heart's content through art on the 8th floor of Shibuya Hikarie.
