About this event

The 2026 (Reiwa 8) Annual Grand Festival will be held at Konno Hachimangu Shrine, enshrined in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo. The ritual ceremony will be conducted as the Grand Festival Ceremony on Monday, September 14 from 11:00. Afterwards, on Friday, September 18, the neighborhood association sake altar purification and mikoshi spirit-infusing ceremony will take place, further livening up the festival. On Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20, festive dedication events will unfold all day long. At the Kagura-den stage, a diverse array of performances will be showcased, including Classical Indian dance, Tai Chi demonstrations, Japanese classical dance, Shibuya folk tales, Kagoshima Ohara-bushi / Yakumaru Nodachi Jigen-ryu martial arts demonstrations, chanson, koto performances, and pantomime/street performances. In the shrine grounds, pony rides and pony exhibits will be held at 14:00 and 15:00. Of particular note are the Dogenzaka Combined Mikoshi Procession and the Aoyama Combined Mikoshi Procession held on Sunday, September 20, which mark the festival's climax. Sato-kagura dances will also be dedicated at the Kagura-den. In addition, special grand festival prayer requests will be accepted from Monday, September 14 to Sunday, September 20, and visitors can also enjoy dedicated ikebana flower arrangement displays. On Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20, along with street vendor stalls, a children's fair in the park and the "Mirai Ennichi" fair in the parking lot in front of the shrine will take place, with food trucks and local mascot characters also scheduled to appear. It is a signature festival of Shibuya's summer/autumn traditions, bustling every year with many worshippers and local residents.
