About this event
The local festival 'Shibunan Matsuri 2026' will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026, in the 'Shibunan' area south of Shibuya Station. With this year's theme of 'Connecting,' it aims to bridge traditional community-rooted festival culture with the diverse lifestyles of the area where trend-conscious creators and residents gather. Held on the same day as the Shibuya Hikawa Shrine Annual Grand Festival, portable shrines (mikoshi) will appear at the venue, and a special experience of touring the streets of Shibuya by rickshaw will be offered. In cooperation with 'Kitchoya' from Asakusa, special rickshaw rides (free, no reservation required, first-come, first-served on the day) touring around Shibuya Station, Hikawa Shrine, and Shibuya Bridge will operate, allowing visitors to experience the festival's excitement and the lively Shibuya cityscape from a different perspective than usual. In addition, interactive programs such as a dance party for children by DJ Papa and an upcycling stamp workshop utilizing old T-shirts will be offered. Ahead of the event, noren curtains and large paper lanterns will be installed at Shibuya Bridge to create a festive atmosphere. At the 'Tsunagaru Market,' where diverse creators and vendors gather, handmade incense, leather goods, vintage clothing, gluten-free bread, and more will be sold, while food and drinks will be served in the food truck area. The event will be held rain or shine, but canceled in stormy weather, with free admission. Workshop participation and purchases at shops require separate fees.
