About this event

Held to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the opening of Yui no Mori Arakawa, this event invites leading library and information science researchers and librarians to deepen discussions on the present and future of public libraries from multifaceted perspectives. Intersecting the theories of researchers based on surveys and studies with the front-line perspectives of librarians in the field, passionate panel discussions will unfold around themes such as public library collections and the "library as a place." In Part 1, four researchers gathered at the venue will take the stage, and in Part 2, the researchers at the venue will be connected via online broadcast with librarians from various regions to contemplate the future vision of public libraries together. Through this valuable opportunity, participants aim to re-examine public libraries from their respective standpoints, organise their thoughts, discover new perspectives, and contribute to library administration and the creation of reading-friendly towns. Following the event, a book sale featuring works by the speakers will also take place. The event is open to junior high school students and older, and participation is free.
