About this event
This event is held as part of the 'Living with Dementia in Mitaka' initiative promoted by Mitaka City. It aims to build a community that warmly watches over people with dementia and their families. Following opening remarks by the Mayor of Mitaka and the Director of the Dementia Medical Center at Kyorin University Hospital, Part 1 features a panel discussion on the theme 'Thinking About Mitaka, a City Living with Dementia.' Panelists include representatives of local community activities, family caregivers, and staff from the Community General Support Center, who will engage in an active discussion. The facilitator will be Satoko Aoyama from the certified NPO Regional Dementia Support Bridge. In Part 2, the dementia-themed movie 'The Father' will be screened. This movie depicts the protagonist whose boundaries between reality and memory blur due to dementia, evoking deep emotion and empathy in viewers. The running time is 97 minutes. In addition, this event is eligible for 'Mitaka Regional Points,' and participants will receive 100 points. On the morning of the same day, a 'Dementia Supporter Training Course' will also be held to foster a proper understanding of dementia. Participants who complete this course will receive a certificate of completion and an orange ring.
