Yakushi-ike Autumn Leaves Festival

The Autumn Leaves Festival will be held at Machida Yakushi-ike Park Shikisainomori Yakushi-ike in Machida City, Tokyo. In addition to daytime walks among peak autumn colors, evening illuminations and an artificial sea of clouds (unkai) mist display will begin on November 14, allowing visitors to enjoy the pond's changing autumn expressions from day to night. While the park's trees turn red, orange, and yellow, visitors can take leisurely daytime strolls through the foliage. From November 14 to November 29, park opening hours will be extended until 20:00 for the nighttime illumination. In addition, an artificial sea of clouds generated by mist will appear every hour from 10:00 to 19:00 during this same period, offering views shifting from fantastical scenery of mist blending with foliage to autumn leaves illuminated as dusk falls. Various programs are planned throughout the festival period to enrich the park experience beyond sightseeing: park guided tours introducing its attractions will be held on November 21, 22, 23, 28, and 29. Food trucks, yoga sessions, and a market are also scheduled during the period, allowing visitors to enjoy Shikisainomori in autumn at their own pace—whether walking under the leaves, enjoying a meal, or relaxing.
