About this event
Operating on Sunday, November 8, 2026, the temporary limited express train "Shinshu Momiji Kaiyu-go" connects Shinjuku Station to Okutama Station without transfers via the Ome Line. Timed to coincide with the autumn foliage season and the arrival of freshly brewed sake (shinshu), passengers can head toward Okutama while admiring beautiful autumn scenery along the Ome Line from train windows. The travel time itself becomes an enjoyable part of the journey, elevating anticipation to savor the lush nature of Okutama. On board, there will be exclusive in-car broadcasts introducing sights along the line (downbound train only) and in-train sales; passengers spending over a certain amount will receive original novelty gifts (stickers and eco-bags). Novelty gifts are limited in quantity. This service brings limited express trains back to the Ome Line, succeeding the Limited Express "Ome" which ceased operations in the 2025 timetable revision. The Okutama area is blessed with rich forests, valleys, and lakes, and is dotted with famous spots where mountains turn vibrant colors in autumn. With numerous highlights such as Lake Okutama, Mt. Kawanori, and Hyakuhiro Falls, visitors can enjoy strolls while taking in nature and history. Additionally, the Okutama area offers unique local delicacies and regional sake nurtured by abundant nature, making tasting them after an autumn walk one of the highlights of the trip. This train is recommended as the optimal means of transit for autumn exploration in Okutama.
