9th Geopark Izu Oshima Orienteering Competition

Set against the backdrop of the Urasabaku Desert and Okuyama Desert on Izu Oshima, the 9th Geopark Izu Oshima Orienteering Competition offers an orienteering experience on one of Japan's most challenging terrains. The course, combining a black desert formed by volcanic eruptions and low-visibility shrubland areas with dense bushes, features intricate micro-topography derived from lava, requiring advanced navigation skills from participants. The competition uses a point orienteering (long-distance competition) format and the EMIT electronic punching system. The concurrently held UUO (Urasabaku Ultra Orienteering) is also a major highlight. The event will be held rain or shine, but will be cancelled in the case of severe weather. The venue is Oshima Onsen Hotel.
