At the 'SL Square' inside Kugenuma Sports Park in Fujisawa City, the 'SL Festival' is held every October in commemoration of Railway Day (October 14). This event is packed with fun activities for families, including opening the driver's cab of the Class C11 steam locomotive 'Shiokaze-go', mini-train ride sessions, and mini-train driving experience sessions. In particular, the 2026 SL Festival will be held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the arrival of the steam locomotive 'Shiokaze-go', promising even more excitement than usual. On the day, a commemorative ceremony will be held starting at 11:00 AM, followed from 12:00 PM by mini-train operating sessions, driver's cab openings, model train exhibits, and an SL quiz rally. Furthermore, special driving experiences running on tracks laid in the park's outdoor swimming pool and whistle-blowing demonstrations powered by the boiler are scheduled, allowing visitors to fully appreciate the unique appeal of steam locomotives that cannot usually be seen.
