About this event
Atsugi City's largest event in Kanagawa Prefecture, the 'Atsugi Ayu Festival', will be held on Saturday, October 10 and Sunday, October 11, 2026. Set around Hon-Atsugi Station, the 'Atsugi Ayu Festival Grand Fireworks Display', featuring approximately 10,000 fireworks, will take place at the confluence of three rivers on the Sagami River, coloring the night sky with overwhelming impact. Counted among the 'Top 50 Festivals of Kanagawa', this festival attracts over 500,000 visitors every year. A diverse range of events will unfold over the two days, including an opening ceremony, parades, the 'Atsugi Dance Legend' dance contest, street performances, and stalls in the Citizen's Booth Village. In addition, on the second day, the 'Children's Ayu Catching by Hand' will be held at the confluence of the three rivers on the Sagami River where children catch sweetfish barehanded, making it enjoyable for families. Mikoshi (portable shrine) shows and mass folk dance performances will also take place, filling the town of Atsugi with energy.
