📅 Tue, Nov 3, 2026

📍 Zama, Kanagawa

About this event

This is a performance of 'Iriya Kabuki,' a traditional performing art handed down in the city's Iriya district, said to have started around the end of the Edo period when local residents were taught by major Kabuki actors during the agricultural off-season and performed at festivals. In the performance, the Iriya Kabuki Kai will perform, with a guest appearance by the Suzuka Nagajuku Hayashi Preservation Society. The program includes 'Kotobuki Shiki Sanbaso,' 'Benten Musume Meo no Shiranami: Inasegawa Seizoroi no Ba' (Five Thieves at Inase River), 'Meoto Shishimai' (Couple Lion Dance), and Act 10 of 'Ehon Taikoki: Amagasaki Kankyo no Ba' (Amagasaki Hermitage Scene), allowing visitors to fully appreciate the charm of traditional performing arts. This performance is organized by the Zama City Board of Education, co-organized by the Zama City Sports and Cultural Promotion Foundation, and managed by the Iriya Kabuki Kai.
