2026 Autumnal Equinox 'Samukawa Diamond Fuji' Week

In Samukawa Town, Kanagawa Prefecture, a viewing event for 'Diamond Fuji'—seen at dusk from various Mount Fuji viewing spots across town—will be held for about 10 days including Autumnal Equinox Day (September 23). Autumnal Equinox Day in particular makes the area around Samukawa Shrine an optimal location to observe Diamond Fuji. During this period, free viewing gatherings and a stamp rally are also planned, offering a chance to experience Samukawa Town's unique mystical scenery and 'sun power.' Samukawa Town, where Samukawa Shrine (the Ichinomiya of Sagami Province) is enshrined, is also known as the 'Land of the Two Solstices and Two Equinoxes,' giving Diamond Fuji observed during this season a special significance.
