The "Echigo Autumn Leaves Lantern Festival 2026" will be held for two days on Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8, 2026, at the Midori-no-Senjojiki area of Echigo Hillside National Government Park in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture. Visitors can experience a magical and extraordinary atmosphere as approximately 3,000 sky lanterns, one of the largest scales in Japan, soar into the night sky all at once. When held in Osaka last year, it gained immense popularity, with lantern tickets selling out about one month in advance. On the days of the event, in addition to the lantern release, visitors can enjoy street performances, live music by artists, a wide variety of food trucks, and nostalgic festival game stalls throughout the day. From children to adults, families, friends, and couples can spend a special evening together. The simultaneous lantern release is scheduled for 19:30.
