Held to honor the bravery and enduring virtues of the renowned Sengoku warlord Lord Kenshin Uesugi, the "101st Kenshin Festival" features "Lord Kenshin" from the "Echigo Joetsu Uesugi Omotenashi Bushotai," widely beloved in Joetsu City, playing the role of Lord Kenshin Uesugi. The festival's highlights include the "Butei-shiki" ceremony recreating the raising of signal smoke and Lord Kenshin's departure for battle, the "Departure Procession" of warriors clad in armor marching through the streets, and the "Reenactment of the Battle of Kawanakajima," known as the greatest battle in Sengoku history. These performances captivate spectators with dynamic power and presence reminiscent of a Sengoku picture scroll. Furthermore, local specialty fairs and stage events will also be held, bustling with many visitors. In this 101st edition, Lord Kenshin from the "Echigo Joetsu Uesugi Omotenashi Bushotai" taking the leading role is particularly expected to make the festival even more exciting.
