About this event
This is an exhibition of the extraordinary artist Momoko Sakura, who possessed multiple facets as a manga artist, essayist, lyricist, and screenwriter, and continued to create new characters and essays one after another. "Chibi Maruko-chan," which began serialization in 1986 and was adapted into an anime in 1990, became a nationally beloved manga cherished by everyone from adults to children. Subsequently, her debut essay collection "Momo no Kanzume," published in 1991, became a massive best-seller with over 2.9 million copies. In this exhibition, numerous representative works are introduced in an unprecedented volume alongside handwritten manuscripts and colored original drawings. While thoroughly enjoying "drawing" and "writing" amid an extremely busy schedule, Momoko Sakura deeply loved the changing of the seasons and small moments of everyday life. This exhibition delivers her complete appeal in its entirety. It is an exhibition that approaches her sensibility, which continues to shine even now.
