About this event
Set against the backdrop of the historic townscape of Obama City, 'Miketsukuni Town Walking Marche 2026' is a large-scale market with approximately 100 stalls lining the charming streets of Obama across a 2-kilometer round trip. While strolling through the atmospheric streets along the Saba Kaido (Mackerel Road), you can enjoy shopping unique to Obama. In particular, around 20 food and drink vendors will be set up on the Obama Kifune street, where you can fully enjoy food touring with food trucks, bento boxes, baked goods, and more. Touching upon the food culture of Obama, which was once a 'Miketsukuni' (province providing imperial cuisine) offering seafood to the Imperial Court, and feeling the history of the Saba Kaido that laid the foundation for Japanese cuisine, this event is perfect for an autumn outing. In addition, a stamp rally will be held where visitors who visit three checkpoints and enjoy shopping at the market vendors can enter a lottery at Machi no Eki to win wonderful prizes. As concurrent events, you can also enjoy the 'Machi no Eki Marche' held on the first Sunday of every month and the 'Sancho-machi Bazaar' featuring about 40 stalls in the atmospheric streets of the former teahouse district of Sancho-machi.
