OBAMA Food Festival

Held in Wakasa Obama, Fukui Prefecture, the "OBAMA Food Festival" is a major gourmet event where local delicacies and regional specialties from across Japan gather under one roof. In 2026, it will be held on Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25. Popular attractions at the venue include a taste-testing comparison of Obama's specialty mackerel sushi (saba-zushi) and a corner where visitors can grill fresh local seafood over charcoal braziers (shichirin). In addition, at the Fukui local sake corner, you can savor delicious regional sake. From around the country, popular shops that sparked the B-grade gourmet boom will also set up stalls, such as Kagawa's bone-in chicken (honetsukidori), Shizuoka's Fujinomiya yakisoba, and Oita's Nakatsu fried chicken (karaage). Obama Ramen, known for its light yet rich broth made from mackerel dashi, is drawing attention as a rare specialty that can only be tasted at the event. Furthermore, local specialty canned mackerel from Obama and goods from sister cities will also be on sale.
