Sakai Rice Festival 2026

About this event

Celebrating its 5th edition this year, the "Sakai Rice Festival 2026" is a rice celebration where newly harvested rice from Sakai City is cooked in hagama (traditional-style cooking pots) using the delicious water of Kowashouzu, and enjoyed alongside about 50 kinds of "rice accompaniments". At the venue, a wide variety of programs for the whole family to enjoy are prepared, including sales and consultations by rice farmers, experiences with authentic sushi chefs, fried kamameshi cooking, live music, a festival fair (ennichi), and a grand lottery with luxurious prizes. It is an event where you can fully savor the deliciousness of new rice. In addition to enjoying rice proudly grown by rice farmers, consultations regarding subscription purchases are also available. For the carefully selected accompaniments, a colorful variety of flavors can be enjoyed, such as fresh seafood and grilled fish, items using A5-rank Wakasa beef, and those made with Sakai City's traditional vegetables. Furthermore, imagawayaki made with rice flour, raw rice chiffon cakes made using delicious rice, baked sweets, and more will be on sale. Experiences such as making fried kamameshi with hagama pots that easily cook delicious rice and sushi-shaping lessons by authentic sushi chefs are also popular. Visitors will also enjoy popcorn giveaways, power supply system demonstration experiences, and displays of popular vehicle models. Inside the venue, selectable festival fair attractions and live music performances will also be held to liven up the atmosphere. A grand lottery where rice and luxurious prizes can be won is also conducted, with multiple ways to participate.
