16th Echizen Fish Festival

About this event

Fukui Prefecture's largest seafood event, the "Echizen Fish Festival," will be held at Roadside Station Echizen. Bottom trawling opens on September 1, kicking off the season when the largest quantity of fish is caught in Echizen Town throughout the year. Coinciding with this season, the event features the "Tengurimon Market," offering over-the-counter sales of freshly caught seafood and delicious seafood gourmet dishes. Furthermore, there are plenty of activities to enjoy fish and the fishing industry, including a "Bare-Handed Fish Catching Experience" for both children and adults, a "Fishing Boat Cruise Experience" heading out to the open sea, an Echizen flounder filleting workshop, and the "Fureai Aquarium" where visitors can touch local fish and shellfish. In addition, the live fish auction experience offers a chance to get fresh fish at great value. The bottom-trawling PR corner also provides panel exhibits introducing the fishing industry.
