About this event

Bringing the Kamiina summer to a close, the "Takato Castle Town Festival" will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, along Gojoka Street and at the Nakamachi Parking Lot in Takato-machi, Ina City. The highlight of this year's festival will be the largest-scale "Yosakoi" and "Awa Odori" performances in Nagano Prefecture. In addition, traditional performing arts from historically connected areas—Miyake Village in Tokyo, Inawashiro Town in Fukushima Prefecture, and Shinjuku Ward in Tokyo—will also be showcased, allowing visitors to fully savor the ambiance of a historic castle town. Starting with an opening ceremony, a diverse lineup of events unfolds from 1:00 PM, featuring performances by the Takato High School Light Music Club, a bubble show by Professor Baburin, dances by the Kogun Takato Castle Lore Society, a performance by Ina Yosakoi Seiryu, and regional traditional arts. In particular, the Takato Castle Town Awa Odori is scheduled from 4:30 PM, featuring multiple dance troupes including Shinshu Okaren. At 6:30 PM, an open-participation dance session is also available. Around the venue, a wide variety of stalls will be set up, including a one-day fire station branch by Takato Fire Station (fire engine exhibition and firefighting experiences), sales of specialty goods from Inawashiro Town, food trucks, fruit and vegetable sales, and interactive stalls such as quoits (ring toss) and raffles, creating a full day of eating, drinking, and playing. The fireworks finale is scheduled to be launched from the opposite bank of the Takato Sports Riverside Ground for about 30 minutes starting at 7:00 PM. In the event of bad weather, the festival may be postponed to Wednesday, September 23, or the venue may be moved to the Takato-machi General Welfare Center Yamasuso.
