About this event

"Usuda Yoiyasa" is a summer festival held in Saku City, Nagano Prefecture. From 2026 (Reiwa 8), the event schedule has been changed from the first Saturday to the fourth Saturday of August to prevent heatstroke and allow more people to enjoy the festivities. In 2026, it is scheduled to be held on Saturday, August 22. Starting from Usuda Station, the festival features a parade by the Usuda Junior High School brass band, dance processions (buyo-nagashi), and portable shrines (mikoshi) marching through the town. In addition, there are plenty of diverse events, including various festivities by the Usuda Town Chamber of Commerce branch and performances of Usuda Shoman Taiko drums. At the conclusion of the festival, fireworks will be launched downstream of Usuda Bridge, coloring the summer night sky. The fireworks can be viewed from on top of Usuda Bridge or along the Chikuma River embankment on the Saku Central Hospital side, made possible through many sponsorships. Applications are also open for groups wishing to perform on the main stage, seeking performers across a wide range of genres, including dance. The festival will run from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
