About this event
Located at an altitude of 777 meters, Nyutosan Shrine holds annual festivals in spring and autumn. Enshrining deities of victory, the mountain, and good fortune in competitions, it is an ideal place to pray for success in games and challenges. During the annual festival, various prayer services (kito) are accepted, including safety for the home, traffic safety, business prosperity, and warding off evil spirits. A wide variety of events that anyone can easily join are hosted, such as an Okunoin inner sanctuary tour, a mallet golf tournament (free equipment rental), a Tengu geta-shoe kicking contest, the annual festival ceremony, Urayasu no Mai dance dedicated by local children, and a treasure-tossing event by the local hero Kasseikaman. Toys and light refreshments are also on sale. Nyutosan Shrine's hall was crafted by Kiyomatsu Furubayashi, a master artisan of Ina. In the Edo period, it gathered popular devotion as an agricultural mountain deity and flourished with gambling festivals. In recent years, it has also become popular for prayers for traffic safety and school admissions. There is also a commemorative cherry blossom tree planted in memory of TV personality Ryuta Mine holding his wedding ceremony at the shrine.
