About this event
Held in Kiso Town, Nagano Prefecture, the "Kiso Handcraft Market" is one of the region's largest craft fairs, set along the historic Nakasendo trail in Kiso-Fukushima. The entire town becomes the venue, allowing visitors to experience unique works by craft artists from across the country while soaking in the atmosphere of a historic post town. There are exhibits across diverse genres, including woodwork, lacquerware, leather, textiles, ceramics, stonework, metal, and glass, offering the joy of finding a favorite piece while conversing directly with the creators. The venue spans areas such as the Uenodan area and Kamimachi/Hirokoji area, and free shuttle buses operate, allowing visitors to fully enjoy both the craft fair and a stroll through the post town while exploring a wide area. Organized by local resident volunteers, the warm hospitality is also part of its charm.
