Autumn Rice Harvesting and Fresh Rice Experience in Rice Country Kijimadaira Village
Japanese name:米どころ木島平村で出会う 稲刈りと新米の秋
📅 Sun, Oct 4, 2026
About this event
Spend an autumn day harvesting rice and savoring freshly harvested new rice in Kijimadaira Village, the production area of the nationally renowned brand rice "Kijimadaira Rice." Surrounded by rich rural scenery, you will harvest rice together with local residents and senior relocators. During the break, enjoy local oyaki (stuffed dumplings), and for lunch, enjoy a meal made with hearth-cooked new rice at the traditional folk house "Sato no Ie." This event is recommended for those interested in rural migration, agrarian lifestyles, country living, and rice cultivation. Participants will receive a souvenir of 2 gou (approx. 300g) of freshly harvested Koshihikari rice grown in Kijimadaira Village. In case rice harvesting is not possible due to weather or paddy conditions, the activity will be changed to an oyaki-making workshop. There will also be an opportunity to hear real-life stories about migration and farming from senior relocator Kyoko Fukuchi.
