Hida Folk Village Festival (Children's Traditional Performing Arts Presentation)

A festival comes to Hida Folk Village (Hida no Sato)! You can observe the festival culture of Hida performed by children, including tori-gei (chicken dance) and shishimai (lion dance), accompanied by the ringing of gongs and beating of drums. Takayama City is home to numerous shrines of various sizes, which are deeply revered by local residents. While the Spring and Autumn Takayama Festivals with their dazzling parade floats are well known, many other shrines also host festivals, where local children play a major role. Every October at Hida no Sato, local children showcase these traditional performing arts to Takayama residents and visiting tourists. Please come and see the dedicated performances of the children passing down Hida's traditional culture to the next generation.
