About this event
The Nakasendo Ochiai-juku Festival is an autumn festival set in an Edo-period post town. Ochiai-juku, once located on the border between Mino and Shinano provinces with around 80 large and small houses lining the streets around Hoei 2 (1705), is a valuable place that preserves the only existing Honjin (main inn) retaining its original form among the 67 post stations on the Nakasendo. In addition to opening this precious "Ochiai Honjin" to the public, the festival features a variety of attractions including stone-foundation pounding (ishaba-tsuki), stage entertainment, and a market. Visitors can enjoy an autumn outing while strolling through the historic townscape.
