29th Gifu Prefecture Bunraku and Noh Convention Mizunami 2026

Under the theme 'Treasures Sent to the Future: Local Performing Arts, Spirit and Technique,' the 29th Gifu Prefecture Bunraku and Noh Convention Mizunami 2026 will be held in Mizunami City. In this convention, seven organizations engaged in preserving and passing down Bunraku and Noh within the prefecture will gather to showcase their achievements. In the opening, 'Shiki Sanbaso' will be performed by adults, elementary school students, and junior high school students of the local Hambara Puppet Joruri Preservation Society. Afterward, the Murohara Bunraku Preservation Society, the Oi Bunraku Preservation Society, and once again the Hambara Puppet Joruri Preservation Society will each perform elaborately planned programs. In particular, with the identical piece 'Keisei Awa no Naruto: Junreiuta no Dan' performed by both the Murohara Bunraku Preservation Society and the Hambara Puppet Joruri Preservation Society, audience members can enjoy differences in puppet manipulation and stage staging. This convention offers a precious opportunity to experience traditional performing arts handed down from ancient times, carrying also the wish to foster future successors.
