About this event

Held every autumn in Kani City, Gifu Prefecture, the 'Katabira Fireworks Festival' is a community-based fireworks festival aimed at bringing smiles to children and the local area. For its 16th edition in 2026, it will be held on Saturday, November 7 at Katabira Park East Plaza. The opening event begins at 12:00, featuring a children's mikoshi portable shrine, kids' activities such as Struck Out and pony riding experiences, stage performances by dance teams and the brass bands of Nishi-Kani Junior High School and Koryo Junior High School, as well as Bon Odori dancing. The main fireworks are scheduled to be launched from 19:00 to 19:30. This year, the pedestrian zone makes a comeback, and food stalls will be expanded. It is a handcrafted fireworks festival supported by local volunteers, the volunteer fire department, neighborhood associations, cooperating organizations, and helpers, making it a day created by the entire community. In addition to fireworks, visitors can enjoy various events and food stalls. This fireworks festival has also become a reason for people who moved away for education or employment to return home, serving as a cherished part of the local scenery.
