Held in Wara Town, Gujo City, Gifu Prefecture, the "Wara Ayu Festival 2026" is an autumn gourmet event where you can savor salt-grilled sweetfish (ayu) hailed as Japan's best, raised in pristine streams. Salt-grilled Wara ayu, which has won the Grand Prix four times at the "Clear Stream Tour Ayu Tasting Contest", is the biggest highlight of this festival and a precious opportunity. At the venue, sales of unique local specialty products will also take place, allowing visitors to thoroughly enjoy Gujo City's bountiful blessings. Furthermore, packed with live music, outdoor stage performances, and activities for children, it offers a program the whole family can enjoy all day long. Convenient access—about 30 minutes by car from Gujo Hachiman or Gero Onsen, and accessible for day trips from Nagoya and Gifu City—is another attractive point. Admission is free.
