Kasamatsu Derby Petanque Tournament

The Kasamatsu Derby Petanque Tournament is held as part of the autumn festival events at Kasamatsu Racecourse in Kasamatsu Town, Gifu Prefecture. With the racehorse training track inside the racecourse serving as a special venue, this tournament requires strategies and techniques different from regular petanque courts due to the thick sand where racehorses run. Because the deep sand suppresses the rolling of the boules, powerful matches unfold where accurate portées and bold direct tirs determine victory or defeat. Please enjoy the new charm of petanque in a special location unique to a racecourse. A petanque trial session will also be held on the same day as the tournament, where anyone can experience petanque and receive guidance for free. Open for 30 teams in the triples category (mixed gender permitted). Four matches will be played in a Swiss-system tournament, with rankings determined by number of wins, Buchholz score (BHN), etc. Match duration is 50 minutes, played on a first-to-13-points basis. The participation fee is 1,000 yen per person (paid on the day).
