Mitake Festival of Light and Harvest

About this event

Held in Mitake Town, Gifu Prefecture, the "Mitake Festival of Light and Harvest" is an event to enjoy Mitake Town in autumn. As the main event, 300 sky lanterns will illuminate the night sky. Participants can experience making their own shimenawa (sacred straw rope) and dedicating it to Ganko-ji Temple. In addition, lantern workshops and a Bon Odori dance festival will be held, and those who are not registered event participants are also free to join the Bon Odori dance. Together with family and friends, you can enjoy making shimenawa ropes, dancing the Bon Odori, and spending time with illuminated sky lanterns. The sight of lanterns carrying wishes spreading across the night sky will surely become a cherished memory.
