About this event
The "59th Mokutaro Festival" will be held to honor Mokutaro Kinoshita, a great figure of Ito. This year, under the theme "Bringing Those Words to Voice and to Heart," various programs are scheduled to praise Mokutaro's achievements. In addition to recitations of haiku and poetry composed by Mokutaro and a reading of the play "Izumiya Somemonoten," dedication of haiku/waka poems and submission of haiku to the Mokutaro Memorial Museum will also take place. Furthermore, choruses by the Ito City Boys and Girls Choir, KANON, and the Izu Ito High School Choral Club, as well as Japanese classical dance by the Nanohana-kai, will be presented, expressing Mokutaro's world through diverse arts. It will be a day to commemorate Mokutaro's great achievements together with participants and pass on his spirit to the future.
