About this event

Commemorating the 150th anniversary of the "Meiji Tunnel (Meiji Utsunoya Tunnel)," a National Registered Tangible Cultural Property, this event is themed around collaboration with historical heritage that supported travelers on the Tokaido road. Otago Kashibaya will be illuminated with projection mapping and light-ups of bamboo art objects inspired by the Meiji Tunnel and the Meiji period. During the event period, the "Kashibaya Music Festival of Light" and a market will also be held, allowing visitors to enjoy a special night illuminated by Meiji lights at Okabe-juku Otago Kashibaya. Along with the bamboo illuminations, there will be a silhouette art exhibition, a Japan Heritage "Travel to Sunshu" promotion, courtyard projection mapping, and special night cafe operations.
