About this event
As a 2026 project related to firing in the reconstructed ancient kiln, the Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Museum will hold 'Let's Get a Little Serious: Making a Misuji Jar with Tokoname Clay and Firing It in a Wood Kiln.' In this workshop, participants will first view a 'Misuji Jar' (three-line jar) at the museum's collection exhibition, and then spend about 6 hours making a Misuji jar using 3 kg of Tokoname clay. The completed pieces will be fired from Friday, November 6 to Sunday, November 8 in the climbing kiln (wood kiln) reconstructed by the museum. Observing the firing process is free and open to all, offering a rare opportunity unique to Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Museum (Aito) to experience the full sequence from appreciation to creation and wood-kiln firing. Why not take this opportunity to express your own 'a little bit of seriousness' through Tokoname clay?
