About this event
This is a commemorative lecture for the special exhibition "Living in the Sengoku Period: The Hosokawa Family and the Treasures of the Eisei Bunko" held at the Toyota City Museum. The speaker will be Yoshihiro Senda, a professor at the Institute for Higher Education at Nagoya City University, special professor at Nara University, and castle archaeology expert prominent on NHK programs and elsewhere. The lecture untangles the history built by the Hosokawa clan through the perspective of castles. The special exhibition features swords associated with the Hosokawa clan, such as the "Kokin Denju no Tachi" (National Treasure), "Meibutsu Hocho Masamune" (National Treasure), and "Kasen Kanesada," along with historical documents, armor, calligraphy, paintings related to three generations—Fujitaka (Yusai), Tadaoki (Sansai), and Tadatoshi—tea utensils associated with Sen no Rikyu, and art crafts collected by Moritatsu Hosokawa. This lecture provides a valuable opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the world presented in the special exhibition.
