About this event
Held at the Aichi Asahi Site Museum, "Summer Vacation! Exciting Yayoi Workshop Month" designates August as an exploration month dedicated to the Yayoi period, offering a wide range of hands-on programs for both children and adults. In addition to popular regulars like the "Fire-Starting Experience" and "Colorful Magatama Bead Making," the event is packed with unique programs such as "Metal Casting Experience - Bekko Candy Edition," where participants experience metal casting using amber candy, and the "Asahi Summer Festival," featuring mini-games themed around artifacts excavated from the Asahi Site. Furthermore, the "Children's History Cafe" and special lectures useful for independent summer research projects will be held, allowing visitors to learn about the world of archaeology in greater depth and with fun. It is a rare chance to experience Yayoi period technology and culture through crafting shiny clay balls, making glass magatama beads, making stone harvesting knives, and creating magatama accessories. Diverse approaches such as water sprinkling at the historic site and lectures using historical card games deepen understanding of the Yayoi period. With special lectures aimed at becoming a "Rice Master" and classes exploring animal secrets from bones, the content is sure to stimulate intellectual curiosity.
