The 45th Kanie Town Residents' Festival will be held on Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 11, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM around Kanie Town Hall, Kanie Town Gymnasium, and Kanie Central Civic Center. In terms of food, a variety of flavors can be enjoyed, including a food & drink corner by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, an open-air tea ceremony by the Volunteer Association, ethnic cuisine by the International Exchange Friendship Society, and yakisoba sales by the Boy Scouts. From friendship municipalities, dishes using Nagoya Cochin chicken from Iwakura City, konnyaku from Shitara Town, and shikuwasa citrus products from Ogimi Village will make an appearance. Stage events include talk shows by Sayaka Aoki and Zabunguru Kato, and performances by the Kanie Junior High School Brass Band and the Sunari Fife and Drum Preservation Society on the first day. The second day is packed with highlights, such as the Kagura parade, saxophone performances by Saxophone Samurai, and traditional performing arts showcased from Yomitan Village, Okinawa Prefecture. In the sales and attraction area, sales of specialty goods from neighboring and friendship municipalities, a sightseeing spots quiz, flower sales, and various workshops will be held. A mini steam locomotive ride experience is available exclusively on Saturday, and high-performance minivelo bicycle test rides can also be enjoyed on the second day. Visitors are encouraged to use public transportation as traffic congestion around the venue is anticipated.
