About this event
Dai-Nana Gekijo stages the European folktale Little Red Riding Hood as a new story. Believed to have roots in the 16th century, this tale is reborn as a drama between a young girl and a wolf, and a transgenerational human and family story. The audience will experience a fresh world of Little Red Riding Hood unlike anything seen before. In the synopsis, the story begins with a young girl lost in the forest being saved by a wolf; 10 years later, entering the forest again to deliver something to her grandmother, she meets the wolf again, depicting a fate spanning generations. The wolf devours the grandmother, and the girl is also eaten by the wolf, but in the end they are rescued, and the wolf vows never to approach again. While delving into the universal themes of the original work, this stage production is a moving story reconstructed from a contemporary perspective.
