📍 Nabari, Mie

About this event

Held every November, the "Kan'ami Festival" commemorates the founding of the Noh troupe in Iga Ohada by Kan'ami, the master who brought Noh theater to its zenith. At the venue, Kan'ami Furusato Park, performances such as shimai (short Noh dances) and rengin (group chanting) by members of Noh organizations in the city, as well as kyogen by a children's kyogen group, will be showcased. This festival aims to pass down the traditional art of Noh, which has a history of more than 700 years, within the local community and connect it to the next generation. It provides a valuable opportunity for children to encounter professional Noh and offers an attractive cultural experience unique to Nabari City. In Nabari City, the birthplace of Kan'ami's troupe, you can directly feel the depth and allure of Noh theater.
