About this event
Held in the Hijiki district of Iga City, Mie Prefecture, the "Hijiki Harvest Festival" is an autumn festival timed to the blooming of colorful cosmos flowers cultivated by local residents in fallow rice paddies. Held annually in mid-October, this historic event has continued since 1992 (Heisei 4). At the venue, special local products such as freshly harvested local rice and vegetables, as well as marine products from Toshijima Island, are sold. The best time to view the cosmos flowers is from mid to late October, when beautiful blossoms color the area around the former Hijiki Elementary School near the venue. On the day of the harvest festival, visitors can enjoy local delicacies while fully experiencing the autumn ambiance.
