SUKOUDO ART GALLERY: Mie Ceramic Artists Exhibition in Iga 2026 - Creators of Ceramic Present II

About this event

"SUKOUDO ART GALLERY: Mie Ceramic Artists Exhibition in Iga 2026 - Creators of Ceramic Present II", held in Iga City, Mie Prefecture, is an exhibition gathering works by 30 ceramic artists active in Mie Prefecture. Leading figures of the contemporary ceramic art scene from Mie Prefecture—a region famous for traditional pottery such as Iga ware and Banko ware—gather to present works filled with their unique "technique," "sensibility," and "creativity." Visitors can encounter works shaping the "present" of ceramic artists within the charming Japanese atmosphere of Old Sukodo, a historic former domain school from the Edo period. In addition, a special section titled "UTSUWA NO CHIKARA - Ceramics Rooted in Daily Life" showcases various vessels that enrich everyday life, offering visitors an opportunity to reflect on their own spiritual richness. The event also offers multifaceted ceramic experiences, including the world of ceramics highlighted with flowers by ikebana artist Miyuki Atsumi, gallery talks by exhibiting artists, and tea gatherings where visitors can enjoy green tea served in tea bowls crafted by the ceramic artists.
