About this event

This event tours the precious gardens scattered throughout Iga City, Mie Prefecture. Mr. Masatoshi Ito, editor of the website "Oniwasan," which introduces approximately 2,200 gardens across Japan, will serve as the guide. Iga City possesses multiple gardens of high historical value, including the nationally designated Place of Scenic Beauty "Jonokoshi Ruins," the Mie Prefecture-designated Place of Scenic Beauty "Minomushian," the nationally registered Tangible Cultural Property "Samurai Residence Akai Family Residence," and the nationally designated Historic Site "Former Sukodo Historic Site." In this event, participants can visit these gardens to learn about the changes and types of gardens across different eras and the system of cultural properties while seeing, hearing, and feeling them. It is a half-day plan visiting various gardens remaining in the castle town of Iga on foot and via the Iga Railway. Participants can join for 1,000 yen including admission and insurance fees, and a special public viewing of the garden at NIPPONIA HOTEL Iga Ueno Castle Town is also included.
